During the offseason in 2016, Charles Tillman called it a career, wrapping up a distinguished career during which he played a big role on many great defenses. While the former Chicago Bears cornerback retired from the game, he had no intentions of just sitting on his butt and not doing anything else with his life.

Sporting News is reporting that Tillman is now a full-fledged FBI agent.

The former Pro Bowl cornerback graduated from the FBI’s Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia, after entering the 20-week program last year.

“A spokesman for the bureau told Sporting News that it does not comment on personnel matters, and Tillman’s family couldn’t be reached, but a source close to the situation said on the eve of Tillman’s 37th birthday, “He is currently working for the FBI. (He) has his badge and everything.”

A source told SN in 2017 not to expect a grand announcement from the FBI if Tillman succeeded.

“They will try to get him to fade to anonymity as much as they can,” said retired U.S. Marshal Kim Widup, a 38-year law enforcement veteran who led the Whitewater investigation. “But I think at some point the FBI will also use it as part of their recruiting policy, as in, ‘Look who we got.’”

Tillman was the Bears’ second-round draft pick in 2003. He gave them 12 glorious years, helping the Bears reach Super Bowl 41 before they ultimately lost to the Indianapolis Colts.
