Surprise Team Interested in Dez Bryant

Dez Bryant has been one of the surprising free agents left unsigned this offseason. He’s gotten interest and offers, according to himself, but is still waiting for the right fit.

Perhaps he’s found it.

The Browns are looking at a big name free agent to bolster their wide receiver core following the news that Josh Gordon may be out for an extended period of time. General manager John Dorsey said the team has discussed bringing in former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Bryant hasn’t had any success catching on with a team since parting ways with Dallas. This is due to some combination of the reputation he’s created for himself as well as his belief that he is still a No. 1 receiver. To date, no team has decided he was worth a flier, but the Browns may be the ones to change that.

Gordon sitting out of training camp for the time being opens up a big hole at wide receiver for a team that was seemingly poised to take a big step forward in 2018. Losing Gordon hurts, but if there is a free agent with enough talent left on the board to mitigate that loss, it’s Bryant.

All Dorsey is saying here is the team has “discussed” the possibility, so this is by no means a guarantee that he ends up with the Browns. He would certainly add another loud personality to a locker room filled with a bunch of new faces eager to prove themselves.

Sounds like a situation that would implode in a way only the Cleveland Browns know how.
