Two Key Eagles Not Traveling With Team to London

When the Philadelphia Eagles fly to London this week to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, two key contributors will not be joining them.

Lightning-fast veteran running back Darren Sproles and second-year cornerback Sidney Jones are both injured and will be staying in Philadelphia while the rest of the squad hops across the pond.

Sproles was phenomenal for the Eagles during the 2014-16 seasons, his first three with the team. However, he’s missed significant time in each of the last two seasons, sitting out all but three games in 2017 and appearing in only one so far this year.

Jones, a second-round pick last year out of Washington, had appeared in six games for the defending champions so far this year.

This has been a disastrous year for the Eagles in terms of injuries, as their Super Bowl hangover has hit the medical department hard. Just look at some of the names that have been hurt so far:

There’s no getting around how disappointing this season has been for the Eagles, and you have to wonder what decisions the team will make if the losses keep piling up. Maybe sitting some hobbled starters could be the right move if the season ends up being lost.
